Olowu-Adekoya, Olubunmi is a Lagosian, born into the Olowu family household of Idumagbo, Lagos Island. She started her education in Surulere Baptist Primary School, Surulere and completed her secondary education at Reagan Memorial Baptist Girls Secondary school, Yaba, Lagos. She continued her education with Lagos State College of Science and Technology, Isolo, Lagos (LACOSTEC) now Lagos State Polytechnic and due to her quest for more knowledge, she went to College of Journalism, Fleet Street, London and obtained a Higher Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication. She then went on to Sunderland University, England, where she graduated with B. A (HONS) in Communication Studies, with Public Relations as her Major
She had her National Youth Service with Lagos State Broadcasting Corporation (LTV 8 / Radio Lagos) now Lagos State Television (LTV) /Eko FM and afterwards worked briefly with Digital Holdings Nigeria Limited before joining the Lagos State Unified Local Government Service in January 1988 and worked in Ikorodu, Surulere, Mushin, Agege, Ibeju-Lekki, Eti-Osa, Lagos Island East and West, at various times as Head of Information Unit before being transferred into the Main Stream of the State Civil Service, Ministry of Information and Strategy with effect from June 2006. Having spent over 27 years in service, she is presently Director (Press and Public Relations) in charge of the Press and Public Relations Unit of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Lagos State. She has attended over the years, many Professional and Private Training, Workshops and Seminars, that has helped in shaping and contributing to her present day status. In her almost 8 years stay in Agege Local Government, she wrote a Compendium on the Local Government and other publications notable amongst them are, Handbook on the “History, Profile & Prospects of Agege Local Government”, “Riding on the Wheels of Success”, “Salvage work in Agege”, “Turning Agege Around” and “Agege Patriots”. While in the Ministry of Physical Planning & Urban Development, she compiled, edited and also published the Ministry’s yearly Ministerial’ Press Briefing booklets between 2012-2015.
Olowu-Adekoya, Olubunmi, is a member of the Chartered Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and a member of Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered).
Her Hobbies include Swimming, Dancing, Writing, and Traveling. She is Happily Married and blessed with lovely children.
